Part II: Why I don’t believe eating healthy is the only mantra to stay healthy?
‘Yoga se hi
hoga’ what a great words by Baba Ram Dev, no? Indeed he did. I cannot agree
more than this. Just like I said in my previous blog post that I don’t believe the statement eating healthy is the only mantra to stay healthy. I am following
that vibe only to make you understand the reason behind this.
A lot of people
wonder and travel in search of solace and serenity but they don’t try to find
around themselves. I have been once to Kerala, not because I wanted some mental
peace or something but to explore the beauty. Just when I stepped down from the
plane and found my dearest Rohit was waiting for me to pick up from the port.
Without my knowledge, I was taken to the best of the best spa & massage
salon. (I won’t name the place, coz I don’t want to get claimed for endorsing
their name without their consent)
As I entered
the room, it felt like a whole different new world to me. I could smell the
fragrance of lavender essential oil in the room. There was an oil diffuser on
the right side of the bed. I didn’t expect anyone giving me this kind of surprise. I
got a fantastic massage and spa; I was relaxed and had not to face any problems
related to jet lag and all. The girl who was treating me told me a few tales of
her town in Thailand. It was then I realized the power of Ayurveda. She told me
how she became a masseur. It was such an inspirational story that triggered me
to widen my knowledge about the subject.
She told me
that she was a professional Yoga teacher in Thailand and she came to India in
the year 2008 (Damn I was in tenth then, preparing for my CBSE boards). She met
a guy who was into meditation and aromatherapy. One day they both were standing
at a shop that sold essential oils and yoga mats only. It was the best shop in
the town. She and her boyfriend at that time, spend a little time together (I
mean okay, they dated for a time) and it was then she realized her love for
Ayurveda.
Okay, I can
understand why do I start with something else and continue with something
completely different. So, just in case you really thought so; I would like to
tell you that Ayurveda is a broader term. It is like trees that bear fruits
like healthy living. What? You guys don’t believe me? Well then, let me put a
light on this whole new topic all along.
What is Ayurveda?
Ayurveda is a scientifically proven way of healthy living. Many of you might not know that it
incorporates Yoga, Meditation, Herbal remedies, home remedies, spa,
aromatherapy, acupressure and acupuncture. Practices of that lady’s husband in
Kerala made her realize the potential she was gifted with. It was a no-shame
profession for her to become a masseur. She even told me how influential her
family is. Despite the fact, she chose to be a professional masseur. It was her
decision to treat people with the therapies of Ayurveda. She calls herself
‘Ayurveda masseur’ (I won’t mind approving her with that).
While she was
giving me a massage she pinched a few points on my body and told me the points
that can help me in staying healthy. As a curious child, I asked her if I could
do it on my own though I knew the answer already. She said I could but for
that, I had to be a ‘pro’ otherwise, no.
After coming
from Kerala, I recalled her words and scrolled about the Ayurvedic approach to
treat diseases and disorders. I was surprised to know the exemplary benefits
Ayurveda could provide. It made me realize that Ayurveda is not only about
using cosmetic products but a wholesome medicament itself.
Changes in my life occurred because of Ayurveda:
I was more of
an antibiotic person before I knew about the benefits that I could derive from
nature. Today, my approach always goes ahead with Ayurveda only and I recommend
everyone the same. But wait! Did you think that I was done with my explanation
here only? There are more to come, so make sure you are tracking me daily. You
can never know when I will be dropping my next blog. This was just a beginning
that inspired me to live the Ayurvedic life. There are more such experiences that
can make you believe ‘why eating healthy is not the only mantra to stay
healthy?’ Till then enjoy this.
