So, previously I
was talking about Yoga & Ayurveda, right? If you are a newbie to my world
of ‘The Healthy Quotient’ then I started with a dramatic question ‘Why I don’t
believe that eating healthy is the only mantra to stay healthy?’ followed by a
sequel. Now, let us continue with my little world of healthy living. Remember I
told you about that masseur I met in Kerala?
I really want to
mention her name but these copyright things I tell you. Well, it is not bad
though. Everyone deserves a part of credibility and appreciation. (What me?
Well Yeah. I surely do) Sometimes, things are right in front of you but you
don’t realize until someone steps into your life and make you realize that.
Meeting that masseur was one of such incidents.
I am a wanderer and
if I want to travel then I have to be fit physically (and financially without a
doubt). So, I try to exercise and workout at least once in a day. I have
watched Malaika Arora Khan, Shilpa Shetty, Jennifer Lopez and of course Jennifer Aniston uploading their videos of yoga and exercises; how they have maintained so fine
(Ok, I accept I am crushing over their looks). It always fascinated me to pose
like them but when I tried that for real; believe me it almost broke my bone
and muscle completely.
Not only boys but
also, the girls crush over their pictures when they upload those amazing poses.
The haters will say the pictures are photoshopped but not. Yoga has really
changed my life drastically and I want to share how, with all of you. There is
a misconception followed by millions of us that Yoga & Ayurveda are two
different methods of living healthy. Like I said in my previous blogpost, that
Ayurveda is a broader term that incorporates yoga and all the other methods of
healthy living.
Yoga is a discipline and a vehicle for the development of
perception and a sacred initiation towards own body. It refers to the inner
peace and skills comprising of techniques that let the human body meet the
equilibrium of the nervous system. It enhances the spirituality and calmness in
the body that prevents anxiety, fear, and depression.
The ideology of
yoga is to make the inner body and soul aware. It brings peace and activates
the feeling that makes us connected to ourselves and more grounded. It
eliminates cravings of satisfaction and has a positive effect by offering an
antidote to come out of negativity. It also eradicates the inadequate methods
that the modern era provides.
Many of you might
be doing power yoga, karma yoga, hath yoga etc. etc. I had a problem that I use
to live in an indiscipline way. I started with normal asana like:
- Trikonasana
- Bhujangasana
- Tadasana
- Adho mukho savasana
- Naukasana
- Kursiasana
Most of you may not
know that squatting, crunching and planking are the fancy exercises that have
the yogic inspiration behind. A beginner should always be careful about
selecting the poses he/she is willing to do. Do not ever (and I mean it, never)
proceed with strong and difficult poses on your own. You can Google about ‘Yoga
for beginners’ and follow the guide (but, you always have an option of meeting
a professional!)
How Yoga has
changed my life upside down. I am more focused, filled with energy and leading
a disease-free life. I am not a pro but yeah I have developed a sense of
belongingness through yoga & Ayurveda which is why I am urging you all to
lead an Ayurvedic life. So, through this blog, I tried to explain one viewpoint
about ‘Why I don’t believe eating healthy is the only mantra to stay healthy?’
In my next blog, I will be bringing one more explanation that will be
short-tale about meditation. Till then what you can do is, drop a comment and
share your views about what is healthy to you.
